2 Gpu no SLI/Crossfire

Go to solution Solved by Benji_w,

The second card will stay idle. They will act as two independent components.

Let me expand on this for you.

I had a 6870 and a 7870 plugged in, I could use one for gaming then the other for mining/folding as they act indepenantly from each other. If they aren't connected via bridge and not enabled through drivers then they will act on their own accord.

@Pro_LiZzy

Guys I have a question, if I have 2 gpu's and they are not in SLI/Crossfire, if my monitor is plugged in to first one lets say second one will be ignored if its not in SLI/Crossfire

Here is simple example of what I mean

PC

GPU

SLI/Crossfire = Both work together, doesn't matter to which one is cable connected

GPU

GPU = Cable connected to first one second is ignored

GPU

Note: This is re-post due to fact no one gave me an answer on previous thread and I have no idea how to bump it.  :(

So what is the question? If the second GPU can be used without a monitor plugged in?

For gaming: no. For compute (such as OpenCL): yes. For multi-monitor setups not in surround: yes

You guys didnt understand. If 2 gpus are in pc but not in SLI/Crossfire and monitor is plugged in first gpu, it will act like second one doesnt exist? Like its not connected.

The second gpu will "exist" it will just not work as it was meant to be by you.

But it can be used as an physx accelerator
