Ok so i want to get some of the steam deals going on right now. But i have not built my computer yet. So my question is if i bought the games on my computer right now , would they be there in the library when i get my new computer for me to re download ??.

What else is there to say i am to n00b to understand computers so yea...

Yeah.They're linked to your steam account,not your computer.

As long as you use the same account to buy them and play off.

Also you don't have to re-download them if you've already downloaded them once - I have every game I've ever purchased and downloaded through Steam on a big backup hard-drive and anytime I wipe and re-install windows I just copy or sym-link the Steam games back.

 

If you want to backup your Steam games folder the default installation directory is C:\Programs (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common, each game will be in a folder that you can backup and restore on a new pc.

 

Each game that's copied to a new Steam installation will have to be "downloaded" through the Steam interface again but it'll just detect local files and use those instead of downloading it all over again over the internet, it will download any new updates since your backup was made should there be any patches etc.

 

I've had some games not work with this for different reasons but I won't go into those here.
