Yesterday I posted a topic about a Micro ATX server i'm planning. Which can be found here

But now i'm undecided on storage options, my initial plan was to go with 4 320GB SSDs in Raid 10.

However I have a few more ideas and I want to hear your thoughts. Bear in mind it will probably be running 24/7, and most likely be running Minecraft. I will also have a 1TB HDD with all of my media for plex.

I don't think i'll need a huge amount of space, the server will only be for a few friends, no more than 10, so the world shouldn't get too big, I had a FTB server on a Hosting service I while ago, and the largest the world size got to was 1.2GB

Options:

1. 4 HDDs in Raid 10

2. 2 HDDs in Raid 1

2. 1 SSD

2. 2 SSDs in Raid 1

HDDs http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd3200bekt or http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd3200bekt

I don't really want to spend any more than £60 on all the drives, but if needed I can probably stretch to £70-£80

If you have any other suggestions for drives or configurations i'd love to hear them

How about a cheap SSD boot drive and 2 HDDs in RAID1?

Hey C_Mike,

If you are using HDDs for RAID, I would suggest getting NAS class drives to avoid any drop outs or other compatibility issues. I suppose you are looking for some redundancy as well as some speed. I would suggest getting 3 WD Red drives (1TB or 2TB since you don't need the space) and putting them in RAID 5 go get a bit of both (redundancy and increased speed) and get a good use of their energy-efficiency and low noise and heat emission. Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=gL15KZ
Since those drives will be running 24/7 you would need something with less vibrations and heat emissions. SSDs are great for that, but when you go up with capacity, they might be a bit costly. I would say HDDs would be the better option. :)
