Plan on purchasing everything between now and the end of July. Just looking for some more feedback so feel free to give opinions and critiques! Thanks all! ^_^

Budget and Location: United States and anywhere in the realm of $2.5k to $3k. Going above isn't too much of a problem.

Aim and Why I'm Upgrading: New computer to take back to school, been running on my same laptop for close to 3 or 4 years now, its served me well but time for a desktop now. Gaming is probably my largest hobby and I'd like to run everything and make it all pretty (compared to my laptop melting tables to play on low), will be playing everything from flash games to the latest AAA titles. I also plan on streaming more (laptop starts to smoke if I try it now haha), I also do video editing and am in school for software engineering so plenty of coding will be done.

Monitors: Plan on running 3 or 4 depending on what I find, already have a 32inch that I will be using as a side monitor for watching videos and movies on. for the other 2 or 3 I was planning something in the 22-24 inch range probably 1920x1080. I also don't play on gaming on more than 1 monitor and would like to have one in portrait to code on. Any advice on this part would be awesome :D

Case: Corsair Obsidian 900D- decided on this one because I've been in absolute love with it since Linus' CES video on it.

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z87- Big fan of how the thermal armor helps make everything look clean and slick and with the giant window in the 900D I plan on everything looking extremely clean.

Video Card: GTX 780- Haven't decided on branding for this one but its either gonna have the Titan look alike stock cooler, or I'll throw the hydro waterblock onto it and go with liquid cooling instead (only thing keeping me from doing that at the start is the cost of all the extra parts to build a custom loop)

Power Supply: Corsair AX860i 860W- fully modular check, probably gonna be running close to 24/7 so Platinum is good, plan on adding another 780 and completely liquid cooling within the next year once I free up some more funds, so the extra wattage is there for expansion. Will also be picking up the individually sleeved white cable set to go with it.

CPU: Intel i7 4770K- figured I'd just go for the new kid on the block haha. I do plan on overclocking both the cpu and gpu.

SSD: Samsung 840 Pro- Again, running close to 24/7 and need it and the computer to last for quite a few years.

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16gb 1866- Gorgeous. I'll be putting in the white light bars, Should look good with the white psu cables and when I get around to my custom loop I'll be using white tubing for a nice overall look. Yeah this are more expensive than others I could use but I like the look enough to warrant it. One question I do have though is will it be worth it to go for the 32gb kit.

HDD: 2x 1TB WD Black- Gonna be running pretty close to always (I'd love suggestions on the hard drives though cause this is the part I've been having most trouble with...)

Cooling: Swiftech H220... OR I'll be build a custom loop with a swiftech apogee block on the cpu, hydro block on the gpu D5 pump and a 4x120 rad. Big thing here is the initial cost of all the parts for the loop which is why I'm on the fence of getting it now or just waiting to later in the year. Opinions on that part?

Keyboard: Getting some more hands on work before I order but right now I'm liking the looks of the Ducky Shine II DK9087.

Think I managed to hit everything that the Build Plan Thread said to haha. That's about all I have so far so any thoughts, comments, ideas, or opinions feel free to leave them, I'm open to hearing anything and everything!

Sincerely,

awinterfeld

for coding and general use I'd say get 3x 22 inch 1080 monitors, they are pretty cheap these days and then use your larger monitor for movies etc. with this many monitors you are going to need a second gpu i'd think. The titan if i remember correctly only outputs to 3 displays at any given time. As for harddrives look into reds though I see nothing wrong with going black.

Thanks for the input, I had originally planned to do red, but that was when I was gonna do 1 3TB, instead of the 2x 1TB. Wasn't too sure if they would work outside of a raid environment since it specifies NAS use, which is why I was originally concerned with them.

So, i checked out and saw that you are wasting a good money on things that you choose, you can get lots of other things with your budget than spending in useless stuff.
The things I would change, definitely that 900D, only if you are going to do some huge custom water cooling, so i would go with a C70 or 650D.
That PSU I really don't like that version, i would go with the AX860 Platinum version, but the difference is just $10 USD.
I rather go with only one WD Black 2TB than 2x 1TB at RAID 0 or 1.
The RAM i would go if cheaper ones, i never used a Corsair Dominator Platinum so i don't know what's the difference between the other RAMs.
And a brand for your GTX 780, MSI !! Gamming or Lightning versions.

I'm just trying to help,
About the 900D, that's what I thinking when i wanted to build a new PC I was always dreaming with the Cosmos II, but than i was getting more informed, and saw that that case is not what I need.
But if you already made your mind with the 900D, so go with that one. But I think that is unnecessary in your case.

Thanks for the input! I do plan on doing the custom loop with the 900D. I thought about going the C70 route and doing a more military style build, but in the end I'd rather spend the difference and get the mass of space that is the 900D. I'm opting for the multi drive config over single for the data redundancy in case of a drive failure. I won't fill up 1TB any time soon unless I really try to and since I've already had two huge drive failures this year, I'd rather have a bit more safety. Thanks again for taking the time to reply, I like hearing the different opinions from people! ^_^
