Could someone help me solve this display driver error?

Just got this display driver error. Screen went black, monitor shut off, and then it came back with a display driver has crashed and recovered message.

 

I'm running the latest Nvidia drivers, I have uninstalled and re installed them completely, and still get this error sometimes.

Huh, I had this with AMD too, I installed a older driver and it worked fine

I just got this card, so I don't have one to rollback to. is there a section of the Nvidia site where I can get an earlier version? And how will I know which is stable?

Is it the 760? if so just google the driver version you're looking for. Nvidia keeps their older drivers up after they have been replaced. I had no issues with 327 series drivers so give those a spin.

Are you running beta drivers?

As I said, completely random. Sometimes a few minutes after boot, this time it was almost 7 hours before boot

on a mac I have no idea, on a windows PC "Display Driver Uninstaller". As far as which 327 driver to use I had the best results with 327.23.

just some optimizations for newer games but you can always update after the issue is isolated and fixed. I was also going on the system listed in your sig.

No, the driver was released long before the 970 existed. You can only use drivers that were released at the same time and after a GPU came out.

I shall downgrade later then, or just deal with it. It only happens like once a day.

There has to be something at work though, Use DDU and follow all the instructions including booting into safe mode. Something had to have gone pear shaped during an install and doing a diver based clean install doesn't remove the borked file. Use that and install the most recent non beta driver and see if the issue persists.
