2x8 and 4x4

So is there a difference In speed and performance whether I get 2x8 or 4x4?

I'm looking at corsair vengeance 1866 or 2133. Just wondering it there's big performance difference if I use both channel vs 1. And well... 16gb is more than what I'll ever need..

I only do gaming , streaming , regular computer use and some mild rendering and recording.

2x8 is preferred over 4x4.

 

buy the fastest kit at your pricepoint.

 

ddr3 2400mhz is roughly the same price as ddr3 @16000mhz

It's mostly looks for your build if you want to populate all the slots but if you plan to overclock your RAM i believe it was slightly better with a 2x8Gb kit since it's more stable, and for future expansion if you plan to go over 16GB.

The only way you will have a benefit with a 4x4 fit is with a workstation board with quad-channel support.
