Hello , i have a question about my upcoming pc build. I have purchased and anti static wrist strap which i will be using for the build. I've gotten many conflicting answers on where, and how to use this strap. Im aware that it needs to be tightly strapped to my wrist or ankle with the metal piece touching me, but what I'm asking is where to put the alligator clips end. Since i think you'll need this information to help me out i will let you know this:

1. my pc case is the corsair c70 military green

2. my PSU is the corsair rm750

I've been told that i need to just clip it to any unpainted part of my case , bare metal , but my case is fully painted

Ive also been told that my PSU needs to be mounted in my case , plugged in but switched off. and i clip the alligator ends to the PSU fan cover , but its fully painted also.

I do have an old dell psu that i think is unpainted , but it cannot be switched off.

Please help me figure out how i can clip this strap because I'm very worried about this and i don't want any of my computer parts to break , thanks.

an anti-static strap is a good idea, but you don't really need it if you ground yourself first and don't work on carpet.

I will be working on a laminated floor , on a wooden table. But how would i ground myself before?

google is your best bet if you're really concerned, but I generally just touch a conductive piece of metal

Attach it to a metal part of your case.
