Hi. Today I began to overclock my MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G Twin Frozr V card.

I got 1314MHz on the core with 1453MHz boost,

and 7600MHz on the memory.

I still want to squeeze everything out of my card possible.

In MSI Afterburner there is a slider for voltage control, but I don't know how that affects the overclocking.

What does increasing voltage do to overclocking? Is it safe?

when you increase your speed

the GPU and memory need more power to run at a faster speed

you can start messing with the voltage when you want to make more speed

but do it bit by bit and not all the way unless you want a 350 dollar cup coaster

I wouldn't overvolt much since all it does is increase stability in the overclock.

If your overclock becomes unstable then increase the voltage a small amount, I wouldn't go over 1.3v.

Going too high with it could result in a dead GPU (which is why I wouldn't recommend it).
