Waiting a month are something for some new hardware, I could do that. but if you are due for an upgrade, Haswell-E is a long way away!

besided I guess that Intel would know that quite a few people are willing to pay good money for it, so if I had to guess, I think it is going to be more expensive than the 3930k :)

it may not be as expensive as you may think. i think intel have realized what impact the amd based consoles will have on the programming landscape.

it may well be a step change for intel like we had from pentium ht to core 2 duo, especially if they decided no more quads just octa cores and up. at the time the core 2 duo e6600 was pretty much on par with the price of a decent pentium ht chip. so i could se a situation were we will be able to pick up a true 8 core for around £250/$400 by early 2015 as the likely to release there premium cpu's first with cheaper binned versions over the following 6-8 months.

im not saying this is how it will be. but going by past behavior i may be close.

Its true about the console side of things, hadnt really considered that in this case, but lets hope AMDs success (hopefully) is going to drive intel to lower prices and more cores! But then again, the LGA2011 cpus are mainly for workstation use.

What is really exciting is the broadwell with a 14nm production process. :P
