$3000 build NEED HELP!

Go to solution Solved by nishank93,

Congratulations on typing all that with an XBox controller!
Get more RAM (no reason why, a 2*8GB kit will serve you well), Get an AX860i instead of the AX1200 (You don't need 1200W). Get the 840 Pro (Faster). Get Windows 8 (Faster).

EDIT: I agree with some posts here. Get a 780 first, and add another later if you think it is holding you back.

Also for this budget and high end graphics, I don't know the monitor you posted but you would be crazy not to get a 1920 by 1440 monitor. I would be a waste.

Its a 144hz 1080p the reason I went for the TN pannel is because its fast and I can find a 1440p around 120hz the ones I find are only 60hz

No your choice is fine I would of suggested a Benq 120hz monitor but you are fine with your choice. Benq to me is the cream of the crop with over 60hz panels. Due to there fast response and there 3D built in tech.

One more comment haha you don't need a payed anti virus software, plenty of good free ones and nobody uses a cd drive anymore. If you really want one feel free, but the are ugly wastes of space

How do I install windows without one and the CD drive will only be in my system for a few hours to iinstall software

All depending on the user. If the love High quality audio and want to drop $150+ on headphones they can. Fulling up the pci-e lanes isn't always the best idea deep ding on the setup. I have never used a revo-drive so I can't comment. A bigger SSD is always nice but yeah its pricey.

Yea I agree I mean I have headphones that really pull the power of a sound card but for most they don't need it if you want higher quality sound you should pick a board with something stronger then your normal realtek sound.

A 230 gb revo drive is 170 and from my expeiriance boot about 2 seconds faster than a corsair neutron. A $50 sound card goes a long way in improving quality, I have sli a sound card and a revodrive. I just like how it looks haha.

You can save onto a thumb drive a bootable setup disc for whichever version of windows you are wanting to install which totally avoids you needing a drive.

If he is saying 2 x 770 (for now) I would think he might upgrade.. And then a ~800watt psu is not enough..

But I would say, got on 780 now, and then another in a while..

get the 900D maybe?

a mechanical keyboard!! :D

someone suggested the 840 Pro.. But as the read speeds are almost the same, I dont think he would notive the difference from the non-pro to the pro version.

I would love a revodrive, but to be realistic, gamers would never need it! Heavy video editing with really huge files, then it would be good.

A 2560x1440 monitor would also be justified in this case! :D

I put games on my revodrive and they are pretty cheap ssds. The original ones at least.

There really isnt any 3D tech for a monitor to be 3D it needs to be any even number above 120hz sp it can give 60hz to each eye but I was looking at a few BenQ monitors and they are SEXY

Honest the hz doesn't make too much of a difference and neither does 5ms to 1ms unless you are playing mario. I would much rather have a high resolution ips planel.

The writes are slower and the NAND is more vulnerable to derogation over time more so then the 840 pro.

840 non pro=TLC flash (LOWER END)

840 pro= MLC (PREMIUM FLASH)

The writes a slower yes, but I presume that with a 128gb ssd he is only going to use it for OS and programs, then the write speeds pretty much makes no noticable difference, am I wrong? (this isnt actually not something I have read, but it just makes sence to me.. :D )

Ahh, I forgot about the difference flash types, but again, for OS it will be along time until either of them wear out..

If you do stick to 1080p even a single 770 is a waste unless you do surrond

I dont know if I agree with that. a single 680 will have to work hard on the really intensive titles, plus games keeps getting more and more demanding, so really not a bad choice imo! :)

There is a build in nvidia nvision tuner in the Benq monitors that is what I meant by built in tech. Monitors yes may be 120hz but they may not have the tuner ready to go for you to just need the glasses to go.

I would go with something like this it seems more rounded towards things for a first time builder. You get a air cooler that has no maintenance. You get superior storage. You get ample power for expansion. You get more stability in a single card. You get a more overclock centric board with a more feature rich board as well.  You get a superior monitor which you could pay the extra for the version that comes with the glasses as well if you wanted 3d. Also, you leave yourself a good chunk of change for saving or perhaps upgrading elements such as if you wanted to perhaps your water block scenario, possible sound card, possible 2nd graphics card after a period of time, maybe upgrade to the 900D who knows but given your budget I feel this is more rounded to your specific scenario.
