No. You'd have to buy a whole different motherboard. APUs are on FM2, and FX series are on AM3+. You're kind of stuck. The best CPU on FM2+ is the X4 860k AFAIK and it's not worth it if you already have that CPU.

yea, plan on chaning my board ANYWAYS because im running a mini itx board in a mATX chasis, and the best cpu on fm2+ is indeed the 860k, and it is not very pwoerful

i also plan on chaning my chassis to a full size atx

my question is.... is the fx 6300 powerful enough to make it a considerable upgrade? putting aside the motherboard stuff

No, they are completely different chipsets and would require a new motherboard to work.

I would upgrade to Intel at some point since it seems that AMD won't be coming out with their new CPUs until 2016.

hmm looking at prices it is too expensive to get any new board+cpu combination, i think i might get a new board like the Gigabyte a88x sniper

No its absolutely not worth the upgrade... only minimal performance gain. Single threaded performance is actually very similar. If you wanna upgrade go for intel...

If you want to upgrade to the FX line you should Atleast go with a 8320, preferibly a 8350 since it is a amped verson of the 8320 with more overclockability And later add a 212 Evo to overclock it. Personally i dont see much of a reason to go with AMD if there isnt any overclocking involved.

But just buying a 212 Evo and overclocking your current CPU would also give you a pretty nice performance boost.

Im running on my stock cooler and i have reached a overclock of 4.4Ghz from 3.9Ghz and i still dont go over 60 degrees C even while playing skyrim which bottlenecks my GPU by a average of around 20%.
Disabling the iGPU on the APU's really gives them a good overclocking headroom even on the stock cooler.

no, a worthy upgrate to what you have would be an intel core i5-4440 and a cheap motherboard.

and seing you are using a lower end GPU i think you should be fine with what you have unless you would have enough money to upgrade both your CPU and GPU toward an higher end gaming machine (i5-4440 and R9 290 for example...or GTX 970)

I would honestly just save that money and go for an Intel cpu/mobo combo later on (a bit expensive I know but it's worth it).

All you would need is a nice i5: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

And a good mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132118&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

are you located near to a microcenter shop?

they have a very good deal on this CPU it would make a good start IMHO:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/432161/Core_i5-4590_37GHz_LGA_1150_Boxed_Processor

But they also have the unlocked i5-4690K for 20$ more so might as well get that...they offer it in a combo with an Asrock Z97 extreme 4 motherboard for only 265$...

i ask a question, what is the most powerful GPU i can put into my system without my a10 7850k bottlenecking it

at 1080p? i would say around the R9 280 or GTX 760 mate.

2- a core i3 is better than what you have but not good enough to justify the cost of the platform upgrade for it...IMHO

As @i_build_nanosuits said an r9 280 would be your best bet.

i had a 4.6ghz FX-8320 CPU with a GTX780(which perform about the same as the R9 290) and the 780 was held back by the FX processor significantly in many games...no way you run a 290 with an APU unless you render games at 1440p or 4K...otherwise it's money in the drain you won't get even half the performance out of such a strong GPU with any FM2 processor.

For 1080p an R9 280 is a good choice...it's pushing it a little but if you like nice anti-aliasing and cranking GPU demanding settings it wont be too much of a bottleneck.

no it cant and i wont suggest a dual GPU card anyways my guess are your powersupply is way short of being able to handle such a gpu am i right?

EDIT: nevermind you have a cheap corsair PSU i guess it could handle that card but an i3 won't max it out at 1080p.

and you would be better with just an R9 290 or 290X or a GTX970 honestly...more consistent performance across the board
