So my Intel fan random spazzed out due to a brownout. The psu failed to knock its self out. Anyways the rpm is going crazy. The actual temps are fine but the rpm is going up and down up and down. Its weird. Ive pumped up my gpu fan because that is loud and i didnt like the weird fan.

I would just get another box cooler or buy an aftermarket cooler.

Well its a HTPC so ill just buy the cheapest fan that seems ok. Any decent fans for under £10. Btw for people that are worried it was a 300w be quiet psu.

Just get another box cooler from www.scean.co.uk That is where I get most of mky pc stuff from. Except I use a H100i not a box cooler because it is a gaming rig not a htpc.

I just took the old heatsink from an e8800 machine. I used vodka because i dont have the fancy stuff. It works, vodka forever, it tastes bad however.

What are you going on about vodka for. Are you using that to remove the thermal interface material.

I personally like to keep things by the book. I use the ArctiClean kit and my Thermal Compound of Choice is Arctic Cooling MX-4 Only problem with it is that sometimes it acts like glue which is no good. I managed rip a cpu out of a socket by trying top remove a heatsink that had that stuff on. It was hell. I also bent 6 of the pins on that cpu but I fixed it and now the cpu works fine :)  .
