Hello everyone,

Issue:
I have been having issues with this PC for sometime now (very new build 1 - 2 weeks old). If possible, I could use some help. The crashing occurred after i installed windows, and installed some drivers. The PC was idle, and all of a sudden, it just crashed. This PC was going to be a Christmas present for my GF. I just want to make sure it is stable, and working before I give it to her. Thank you In advance for the help, I look forward to working with someone on this issue.

Steps I have taken:
  • So the first step I have taken is enabling minidump, and making sure that the PC does not restart when a blue screen does occur. I have gotten 2 blue screens so far. Both are Stop 0x00000124, which from reading on google could be a hardware issue/driver issue.
  • Next thing i have done (today I did this) was test the ram, with memtest86+. I tested one stick at a time. Let one test over night, and the other test while i was at work today. Both passed, 20 times to be exact.
  • Updated the bios to the latest version on the Asus site (2012)
  • All Clock Speeds are stock, no overclocking has been done on this build, ever.

Here are the specs of the PC:

OS: Windows 7 Home premium 64 Bit.

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K

PSU: Corsair AX860i (860 watts)

Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB

SSD: Samsung MZ-7PD128BW 840 Pro

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB

GPU: EVGA GTX 780 TI

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

Thank you for the help in advance, I'm just getting super frustrated with this now. Want to get this resolved so I can surprise my GF for Christmas. BUT I am in no rush, if this can't get fixed by then, then that is fine. Thank you all.

Yea, she had bought me my first rig awhile back, just want to return the favor! ... and she means a lot to me  ;) I had heard that a recent windows 7 update had got pulled, because it was causing bluescreens. I had only re installed windows 2 days ago, so i don't think that could be the issue.

Clean install Windows? Install and take notes on each driver to see which is giving you trouble. Also, have you stressed your GPU? Maybe it's the Nvidia drivers causing the BSOD?

I did recently install windows 7, but i haven't checked to see which driver was giving me the issue. Were you able to take a look at my dump file, and see that it was caused by a driver ( I have no idea where to start when it come to analyzing those) if it is a driver issue, this will be a lot easier on me, sense like you said just take notes on which driver is causing me trouble.

I've never opened one of them before so I can't read them, I'm just making assumptions from what you've told us.

No problem! Thank you, I will try what you said and see if that helps at all, or if i can find the problem driver.

So after spending most of the night, Uninstalling windows, re installing every single driver manually one by one. It didn't Bluescreen. Until I installed 132 windows updates, the second I clicked install, it crashed and bluescreened. Wtf is going on, is this a windows 7 update issue, like Sonefiler had said?

I looked at the dump file, and I'm going to be serious with you, something in your computer is screwed. The dump mentions Bug Check Code: 124, this usually indicates a fatal hardware error. Something is dead and needs to be RMA'd and I'm afraid none of us can pin point exactly what is dead.
