OK what is the point of bringing out a new card and spending all this money on developing and advertising the reference model and making it look all slim and high quality when you can not even buy that specific card.

The GTX 770's reference design with the illuminating gtx 770 logo on the side is probably the best looking card i have ever seen apart from the gtx titan black edition obviously, I looked at the other aftermarket cards with their own coolers and they look nowhere near as good as the reference card and i was just wondering why nvidia do this like what is the point of advertising this amazing looking card when you carnt buy it. The illuminating logo on the side would look perfect on the rig and this just makes me want the reference  card more its torture. I think i am going to have to go with the EVGA super clocked version i mean it does that have the expensive quality look like the reference desighn but its not a bad looking card.

I have SLI 770's and they are both reference and super strong overclockers.

The board members want to design their own coolers to differentiate themselves in the market place. They don't have much incentive to release a reference model because you can get them from any manufacturer. They want to build a loyal customer base who comes back and continue to buy their unique products.

Nvidia originally designed the cooler for the Titan. They released the other cards with the cooler as well because they wouldn't need to design a new cooler.

Aftermarket coolers are made because they perform better and are quieter.
