Make sure it's either PCIe x1 or PCI if you still have one. Also look for one that supports a good speed, like at least 300Mbps.

TPLink makes wifi cards and they use Qualcomm parts so they're pretty good. Really the best are the Intel cards. If you want the best get one of those. But a $30 TP Link will do you fine, and definitely get and give better signal than a usb adapter would.
