New cpu

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

The i7-4770k looks good to. I probably want to go with an I7 more than a I5.

you should be able to get an i7-4790k for about the same price but the i7-4790k is clocked at 4ghz out of the box with a 4.4ghz boost clock so it's an overclocked binned chip from intel...they've also improved thermals so this cpu is very likely to he a beast overclockr on top of performing extremely well out of the box.

i5 4690K, if you have money for a new motherbaord as well.

i5 4670k as the above said with a MSI Z97 gaming 5 MB would be great, and obviously an aftermarket liquid cooler or AIO would help with temps and OC of the CPU

I was thinking about like a i7 4790K. Does it worth 100$ more?

Only if you need HyperThreading, because the performance difference between a i5-4690K and a i7-4790K in games is negligible. If you do video rendering or any heavily multi-threaded tasks, then only then would I advise a 4790K, or if you just want the best of the best and your budget allows, then get the 4790K.

do more research on your own before buying into the ''i5 is all you need for gaming'' bandwagon...you may want some more future proofing out of your purchase and the i5 is pinned in some games already.

Some games defenetly can leverage more than 4 cpu threads and they will benefit from it, and this is the trend that will continue moving forward:
