Uh, what are you using your computer for?

Generally, the cheapest CL9 1600/1866 ram you can find--Whichever is cheaper. (Sometimes the 1866 is cheaper for some reason)

The price jump for 2133 is not worth it unless you're doing some serious rendering (and I mean serious. It won't be that much of an improvement otherwise.)

my question is what is more important, quantity or speed.

Quantity. The difference once you get past 1600 is negligible.

Edit: Especially since you're not rendering stuff.

agree on the 1600/1866 speeds since all you will gain in games is like 1fps more for each speed bump. Also what is a m5a97 evo? The m5a97 and the 990fx evo are 2 different motherboards.

look at the m/board manual, if you don't have it download it from Asus, and check which memory is recommended from vendors list and get the fastest kit with most memory you can afford,

I used to have that m/board and used Dominator GT ram kit (2000 o/c edition) now i have a new board i just upgraded to Kingston 2133mhz kit as it was recommended by Asus for my new board.

got to love Asus components

I'm confused because they are almost the exact same price:

http://www.pcdiga.com/2/3418/Gskill-Ripjaws-X-DDR3-1600MHz-2x4GB-F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL?marca=213

http://www.pcdiga.com/2/3442/Gskill-Ripjaws-DDR3-1866MHz-2x4GB-F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL?marca=213

http://www.pcdiga.com/2/3443/Gskill-Ripjaws-X-DDR3-2133MHz-2x4GB-F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL

The diference is the the CL, The 2133Mhz has CL 11, I know CL 11 is worse. So what is better? 1866Mhz CL9 or 2133Mhz CL11 ?

Get the CL9. It's almost always better since you can just plug it and and not worry.

With CL11, you generally have to overclock it to make up for the difference. Overclocking can cause instabilities especially when you overclock your cpu. Fyi, you can't really overclock your ram when you decently overclock your cpu.

Get the first CL9 1600 ram. Every little bit of money counts and you can't tell the difference between 1600/1866 anyway.
