I have an 8320 in a pretty not spectacular motherboard. I go to LAN parties quite often, and I want something that's easier to transport. Is it not a good idea to use a Mini-ITX board as my main computer I use everyday? And also, is the mini-ITX + 4670K upgrade worth it coming from an AMD 8320? Thanks!

With all the problems with Haswell...I'd say, wait for the 9590 or for AMD's Steamroller.

Folding for LTT since April 2016.

The gaming upgrade won't be drastic. You might barely notice the difference. The best upgrade is a gpu since the 8320 is a decent cpu.

Intel does have a better selection of itx boards though.

A cheaper alternative to itx is matx which wouldn't be as small but it should be considerably cheaper.

If portability is really the goal, mini-itx/matx w/handle is the way to go.

I still wouldn't go Haswell though. Ivy is still a better bang for your buck.

I'd love to stick with AMD because I don't haz the monies to be spending it like that, but I'm pretty sure there is no mini-ITX AM3+ and the m-ATX boards are... Yeah no. So I might be forced to go with Intel.
