Lego Mindstorm Ev3

Hi everyone,

 

I happen to be in my final year of university and I have chosen to take a robotics project as my final year project. I felt it would keep me very interested throughout the year and be challenging enough that it would look quite impressive at the end as well. I have chosen to build a Lego Mindstorm EV3 robot and have it map a room using its infrared sensor to detect obstacles and objects. The problem I have run into is getting the kohonen map to work... well when I say work I mean I have no idea as to how I should implement it. I have been programming in Java to do this project and was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to where I could find an example of this being implemented so that I could work off it as a basis and make my project a success and hopefully get a decent grade.
