Hey guys, I work in the HVAC industry and my company is currently toying with the idea of getting tablets for our technicians out in the field. I figured I would do a bit of research on the topic for the owners before they commit to something that would ultimately be useless/waste of money. What we're looking for is a decent size, preferably 8"+ (phablets aren't a contender), decent battery life, decent camera, as well as having the voice calling feature. I've never really kept up to date on tablets other than what Linus and Slick talk about on the WAN show, so I'm pretty much in the dark. Is voice calling even a thing on tablets in NA?

The idea is to have less paperwork for our techs to carry around as well as the ability to move/process information quicker and more effectively between the office/tech/customer trifecta. The voice calling is so our company can have all of our techs on a "reliable" network and they can just have bluetooth headsets in, as opposed to each of them having their own phones/providers and giving them a stipend for it. I also am aware that the company could just get them all decent smartphones/phablets, and pairing it with whatever tablets for viewing paperwork/equipment images, but we were hoping to knock it out with one device.

I'll be looking into it over the next few days, as I'd like to have some concrete information by Friday, but I figured I should give a post on here and see if any of y'all have any experience in this. Any input would (probably) be helpful ;)

Thanks in advance!

Hey

Would one of the Asus Padfone's work for you? They are essentially tablet "docks" with a phone inserted in them, but you can remove the phone and use it like any other Android phone. They come in small 7 inch and 9 inch(Padfone X on AT&T) sizes.
