Dead hdd?

alex88nguyen

Hello! I recently started a new bulid. It includes my hard drive which was working perfectly on my old one. The new build consists of a new mobo, cpu, gpu, psu. Everything is up and running including the ssd and my dvd drive. The only problem is that my computer/bios can't detect my hdd. I've tried using different sata and power cables, placing into sata 0-3. Nothing seems to work. The hard drive doesn't make any noise or vibrations during boot up. Is my hdd dead?

I'll eventually test it on my other pc, just don't have the time atm. (Preparing for the holiday)

With it plugged in very lightly rap the case of the hdd with something like the handle of a screwdriver to see if that makes a difference. The drive may be frozen from stiction and the vibration will jar it loose. Long shot tho.
