So today i bought my second GTX 780 of a friend who upgraded to a 980 and i just installed it, but then it dawned on me that i dont remember how to enable SLI, in recollection i vaguely remember watching a linus video on it a couple of years ago tho :D

So i desided to just google it and i read this "http://www.wikihow.com/Establish-Nvidia-SLI" short guide on the prosess. but then i got to the 4th step which state

"

Turn on SLI. Click the Manage 3D Settings link in the left menu. Under Global Settings, scroll down until you find the “SLI performance mode” entry. Change the settings from “Single GPU” to “Alternate Frame Rendering 2”. This will turn on SLI mode for all of your programs.

You can make adjustments to individual games by clicking the Program Settings tab and then selecting “SLI performance mode”.

"

This confused me, i went to global settings and searched for “SLI performance mode” ,but the closest thing i find is "SLI rendering mode" and here i can choose to "force alternate frame rendering 2" but if i try to apply i get a nice little warning that says....

NVIDIA has predefined settings for SLI performance mode. Changing this value will deviate from the NVIDIA recommended settings. Do you wish to continue?

And then i get an option for yes or no.

Does anyone know if i should just click, yes or am i looking in the wrong place ?

Thanks, so the NVIDIA recommended settings will utilize both GPUs on all programs, because the guide says it doesn't unless you choose it to....

Whoever the hell wrote that guide is stupid. Forcing AFR2 on some games will BREAK the performance for SLI outright. I suggest you try AFR2 or something on a game-by-game basis if the game doesn't support SLI by default (like Skyrim with ENB or RCRN). If you want to know anything about SLI, you can read the (long) guide in my signature, and if you want to know anything else that trama didn't already help with, you can PM me or something.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday
