don't worry it's just a wifi thing but I don't know what it is exactly

Basically point to point signal, so its like a fibre optical transmitted point to point through the air

but what does that mean? could you buy it and potentially get 1.4gb/s?

It will only go as fast as your internet provider supplies,  you could connect 2 computers together at 1.4gb/s though not sure why you would want to

What does it mean? that business can share an internet connection between 2 properties 13km away without running a cable

oh so you could have one of these dishes in a city with great internet speed and then another 100km away in the middle of nowhere but you could get incredible speeds

You won't be able to actually reach 100km, especially through a city. Their website says 100km+, but ratings for this kind of equipment like that are always theoretical and assumed to be perfectly flat ground with direct line of sight between the two points with no radio interference or obstacles. You will also notice in their website they say 13km real world proven links, that is more indicative of the range you could actually get.

you need to buy a pair of those to connect two devices

also, even though those frequency they operate at are "unlicensed", most countries have a limit on how much power you can send signals at, and I would say they exceed that limit in most places.

I can't speak for other countries, but I can't imagine the FCC and Industry Canada allow the sale/importation of devices that operate outside their maximum allowed transmission power. They're generally quite strict.

Also, I've never read anything on the Ubiquiti forms about them being banned in countries.
