Here is my build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/MineKnightus/saved/hKBxFT

I am thinking about getting a second 970 and SSD once I make a little more money. I am wondering about input on build?

My memory? Storage?

Any other input?

Thanks so much in advance!

You dont need an i7 unless you do video rendering/3D modeling stuff frequently. The mobo is good but kinda overkill in most situation, how about a MSI Z97 G45 instead? or Gaming 5 from either MSI or Gigabyte. You might want to check whether those motherboard cover your need better than the Hero or not.

And I'd say you better get a SSD right away, since reinstalling OS and all is annoying :3 If you cant just wait a bit more for more money, else get a SSD first and HDD later. 120GB SSD is fine for most case since game dont benefit from running on SSD much,

My rig: Intel Core i7 4790k | MSI Z97 PC Mate | GSKILL Ripjaws X 16GB 1866MHz | ADATA Premier SP550 480GB SSD | Seagate Barracuda 3TB | Seagate Barracuda 2TB  | MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 | Thermaltake Versa N21 | Corsair CX550M Semi Modular PSU | AOC G2460PF 144Hz | Logitech G502 | GSKILL Ripjaws KM780  | GAMDIAS HEPHAESTUS V2  PCPartPicker | Old Build Log | New Build Log

That is not exactly true. If you do any Twitch, or much multi-tasking at all you will want an i7. Shit, just for longevity reason you want the best you can afford. Also, it is 2015 who the hell uses HDD's? That is horrible advice. I have not used HDD's in like 2-3 years. I have an entire $28K Server that uses all Intel Enterprise SSD's, and it is worth every dollar. I also re-format and re-install once or month or so, as does everyone of my employees. We also do a lot of Component switching so it makes sense. Anyway, just some advice from an expert who works in the field.

Not everyone have that kind of money you know... for a cheap option that need alot more space then speed, HDD is still better. Ofc if you have unlimited money and all, running every on SSD is perfect, but a build like this is usually within a budget range.

What you said about an i7 is true, but not usually the case for most gamer though. it need a much higher level of multitasking for an i5 to run out of juice compare to an i7. And about longevity, if an i5 4690k is "not good enough" anymore, the i7 4790k will probably be the same too, and that will happen when new generation come, so better change it anyway.

Yeah, I like rendering things with blender and I wanted to start streaming, so I feel like the i& is kind of necessary. I definitely get what you're saying though. Are you sure that 120 GB is enough for an SSD? I also heard that MSi keyboards have some problems, which is why I went with Asus.
