Yes but that's US prices.  I might need to change it up a bit. $1321.99 in CAD.

Oh yeah, CAD... I was thinking about the AutoCAD software so I put in a i7 LOL. If that the case then your build is fine, but if it's me I'd change the GPU to a GTX 970 (mostly personal choice, but it do perform better and more power efficiency, usually quieter and cooler), the Mobo to a MSI Z97 PC Mate for a cheap option, or Gaming 5 or G45 instead of gaming 3 for SLI option later on. (650w PSU is more than enough for 2 970, not 2 290 though)

Solid build, but yeah the gtx 970 is about $10 more, and has marginally better performance with much lower temps/consumption

Yeah, changed it to that. Just haven't been up to date with the new tech lately..

The EVGA one I changed it to is pretty good right?

If you really want it to get within 1000 CAD, you he can sacrifice the overclocking ability. It's up to you him, but I suggest you he save up a little bit more and do the i5 4690k/z97 build. :D

What if he doesn't want the overclocking ability? What are some good motherboards. I'm always confused about the non Z 97 boards....

You can lower the CPU to a locked CPU instead of an unlocked one, it'll shave off some money. For a locked CPU with LGA1150, any 1150 socket motherboard will do. i.e. H81/H87/H97/Z87/Z97

For gaming/streaming it's hard to beat the price to performance of the 8 core AMD CPUs. Power supply I have down will allow for good overclocking as well as an eventual SLI config (Super Flower OEM I believe, very solid). Memory is the best price to performance RAM in Canada atm, according to pcpartpicker. SSD is larger and better.
