Help with windows 8/HDD drive

Go to solution Solved by Arty,

right click computer/my pc  on desktop > manage > storage > disk management is thier but without a drive letter?

So I just built my first PC. I have a 250GB SSD and a 2TB HDD. So I installed 8.1 on the SSD, but I don't see my HDD here? I have a CD drive, SSD, and the HDD connected. Here's the picture. Besides this everything has gone great with my first build and windows boots up in less than 5 seconds lol. BTW I've never used Window 8.1 or 8 before so that's another reason why I'm having trouble figuring this out cause I have to learn how to adapt to this from W7.

I went into computer management. I now see my 2TB HDD but it's unallocated. It's been so long since I did this, when I right click it gives me properties and that's it. I have to format this somehow yes?

You might need to initialize the HDD.

right click computer/my pc  on desktop > manage > storage > disk management is thier but without a drive letter?

So when I open disk management it says it must be initialized. It gives me MBR or GPT. Master boot record or GUID partition table. Which should I choose?

since it is 2tb use GUID

<2Tb mbr

2TB<Guid

Ok I'll do that, could you explain to me why? I'll do GUID I just like to know why I'm doing things instead of just doing them, thanks.

Alright and should I just push ok on everything else? Just defaults on all the options it gives me while I'm creating a new volume?

I just did default settings on everything. The drive shows up now just let me know if I should have changed anything, cause I'll want to redu it now before I start installing stuff lol.
