How would I tell if my PSU is causing problems with crashing BF4. I recently got a GTX 970, upgraded from a 670. BF4 crashes for me about every 30 min. I do not overclock my gpu but my cpu is at 2500k is at 4.0. Btw is is a corsair ax850. Crashing has been consistent from my 670 to 970.

What does that mean? has it been crashing with the 670 too? then its probably the cpu.. its getting old and the voltage you set might not be sufficent to sustain the 4,0 ghz anymore. try reducing your clock to 3.8 or 3.7 and see if it keeps crashing

It has been crashing with both cards. So I would imagine it's not the cards, most likely. So should I expect to possibly need to replace my 2500k soon?

sorry but thats the most stupid thing . the whole pc would freeze or shut down if the cpu was to blame not just a game crash . and its super easy to test the cpu stability with prime95 or something like that

---

i doubt its the psu as its super overkill for your pc

i think the problem is battlefield 4 itself(or don`t you know that bf4 crashes a lot?) or some drivers problems

Since I installed my 970 I have had many total system crash (black screen) and I have had to cold boot my system to get it working again. Btw not really overkill if I buy a PSU with the intention to have sli in the future. Some of the crashes were TWS2 and BF4 has been having many problems.

as it sits right now it is overkill but thats not what i mean. since its a 850W unit its more than enough so you can take out the psu out from the issue for the whole reason that your pc starts. thats when the pc requires more power.

so start testing. prime95 + 3d mark or unigine . if you get a crash run them individually and identify the problem. if nothing happens run memtest. if again all is fine wipe all the gpu drivers and do a clean install
