I just cannot understand how a single 7970 performs better then 7990 ?

Im a newbie here can someone please explain more in detail please so I learn more? Thank you.

maybe 3dmark was using only one if the 2 gpu cores in the 7990?

look at the graphics score, 30k vs 17k - in favour of the 7990.

 

the cpu's are different, resulting in different scores. the 7990 is using sandy bridge-E 3930k, while the 7970 is using ivy bridge 3770k

The cpus are different right. But I expect the 7990 to score more then the 7970? the cpu of the 7990 is better then the 7970.
