Displayport not working?

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

Yes. No detection.

Sorry about the long response time. Life got in the way.

Are your sure the cable works? Is it possible for you to test the cable on a different monitor?

Again, this is going to be a very stupid question, but have you made sure that the cable is all the way in? In my experience displayport cables sometimes need a bit of force to get into the connector probably.

Hello, I just got a 970 and new ASUS monitor and had them connected via hdmi without a problem. My displayport cable just came in the mail and connecting it does nothing. Does not detect a signal, monitor, or anything. Is there something I have to enable to get displayport to work?

This is probably a very stupid question, but have you set your monitor's source to the dispayport input?

Yes. No detection.

I can put together a computer with some spare parts to test it, the cable appeared to be plugged in all the way. I can try again today.

Haha wow, turns out I had to move around the cable to the "sweet spot". Cable works fine! Honestly though, why would I even need a displayport cable if it supports HDMI or DVI?

Depends on what monitor your using.

Dispalyport is a newer standard, and is currently the only one that supports 4k @60Hz.

But if you are using a 1080P 60Hz monitor, there really is no reason to use one over the other.

I'm glad you got it working. A small problem like this can really be a pain.

Standard 1080p monitor at 75Hz. I just would like to know if a cable works :P
