Cannot lower CPU's voltage

Go to solution Solved by Paul_VB,

nvm.. i think i got it... i set the voltage offset back to +0.065V @4.8 GHz and now cpuz reads 1.456v under prime95.. so basically i'm back where i started

Greetings people. I have an i5 2500k ive been overclocking recently. i got it up to 4.8GHz, but the voltage was too high for comfort, getting up to 1.45v (according to CPUz) when prime 95 was running.

I've tried turning back the voltage (i set the voltage to "auto" in the bios), but now the voltage is being read as like 1.59 when prime 95 is ran, even when ive clocked it back to 4.6Ghz

Did i damage my CPU and now it really needs more voltage to run? is there some hidden bios setting? I'd really hate it if i damaged my CPU :/

I'd love to set it manually. the only issue is that my mobo has this weird setting where the CPU voltage adjuster is not an absolute voltage, its a cpu voltage offset. idk what its being offset from though.. its very worrying
