So I have a system at home that houses an AMD Athlon x4 760k, a GTX 760 and it lags on LoL. Where should I upgrade? It's non overclocked and I have $250 to upgrade it.

the processor might be bottlenecking its the most likely place but you still shouldnt be getting frame drops on lol with that processor.

my suggestion is switch over to an fx processor and motherboard. cheapest chipset change i could find with a decent processor. would prefer intel but this will work

Wait.. LoL is lagging out? it runs on a stable 50-60fps+ on my machine.. I dont see why it would lag out for you.

Upgrade your CPU/Mobo that is your bottleneck for LoL since that is a CPU bound game. Go for a locked i5 if you are on a 250$ budget. If you have a microcenter around you go there the 4690k is currently 179.99$. Can get that and a z97 SLiI board for around 250$

You're already setup for overclocking so I would give it a go and see what that does for you before shelling out money.

I would start at 4.5 GHz @ 1.425v and see if you can get it stable, just try to stay under 1.5v as above that you'll be in degrading waters.

I'd also watch your temperatures and try to not exceed the 74C limit.

You have 250$? sell your AMD board and CPU online to the most offering and buy this...this kit won't limit the performance of even the highest-end GPU's even at 1080p...

it's a very strong CPU and has nothing to do with your 760k...overclocked or not:
