Secure Offline Network Project

To all who know how to network. My friend and I are trying to set up an off-line network. Were going to replace the firmware of a router with Pirate Box. Doing this will allow us to set up a communications and media file-sharing server. We plan to use it to stream music, and possibly hook up a small PC to stream games with steam, as well as talk to each other while being off-line and secure.

This signal, however, needs to be sent between my friend's house to mine, and we live about 1.5 to 2 miles away from each other.

Here is a list of the materials that we think we'll need:

Router(compatible with Pirate-box Firmware):

Pirate Box Firmware:

8 Mile Directional Long Range Antenna:

Solar Panels (Power the Router):

Any advice on what would be recommended (its just the router)??

Connectors:

What connectors would we need to connect this antenna to the router as the router has limited connections, and is it possible??

We plan to put the antenna up on a pole away from interference ( ie. trees and other signals) to prolong the signal, however we do not have an in depth knowledge when it comes to networking, and wireless broadcasting. So to all of those out there who want to help, advice would be much appreciated. If there are better ways to do this, don't hesitate to let us know. Thank you all!!

I suggest you use something like this for the p2p link:

http://routerboard.com/RBSXTG-5HPacD

You won't need the router, just use static IP and the the small PC for everything you need.

You will also need a small gigabit switch like:

EDIT: Be sure you have direct line of sight, otherwise you can't use wireless
