Help for AFFORDABLE EK Loop

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

MSI what? GPU or afterburner?

And a waterblock will indeed help keep the temps down and in theory yield a higher result.

Both. If somebody buys the AMP! today, then I'm getting the gaming 4g. Then I'm gonna get an EK block for it at some point and overclock with afterburner.

What can I get for $350 from EK

You can get a kit for 350 from EK but if i were you i would go to frozencpu or performancepcs and put together a kit for yourself for $350 using a mix of WC component makers. Personally i don't like EK's radiators or reservoirs but i love their waterblocks. The XSPC kit you chose is top quality but just at a reasonable price.

My kit would consist of waterblocks form EK, radiators from hardwarlabs(preferably), alphacool, XSPC, pump/reservoir from XSPC, fittings from XSPC/PrimoChill/Monsoon, tubing from Tygon and fans from Akasa/Cougar.

What about getting an h220x, waterblock and backplate from ek, tubing from ___, swiftech uv green fluid, and some solid fittings?

The h220x or any other AIO will never come close to a custom kit because the pump is not as strong nor are the radiators as thick as you can get from a custom loop.

If you must have green or want a green theme, i would get the XSPC kit and ask for green leds(yes the kit comes with leds for the CPU block and the reservoir) and i am sure the people would change it for you and just buy better fans and you would be under your $350 budget.

I could just switch the tubing and coolant, also thanks so much for the help

xspc's kit is a really good deal. But... I don't have a 5 1/4 inch bay on my case. Should I swap my s340 build into my r4 or get a different reservoir for more

There isn't a need to swap cases. If you want to utilize your 51/4 bay on your case, just get the XSPC kit that has the 51/4 bay reservoir and yes it has a D5 pump too, just make sure you have a dual 51/4 bay space and if you don't have the space then you will have to swap cases.

So far this is what I have. I would be much cheaper to go all EK, though.YkUcYtM.png

Actually you would pay more if you went EK because the EK kit you put up was more expensive than the XSPC one. You need to rethink the tubing, that 1 in amount means 1foot of tubing and you can only do maybe 2 connections with that. Really though, not trying to change your mind but you don't need to change the tube as the tubing that comes with the kit is good tubing.

What's some good clear tubing, then?

What i meant was that you need to order more than 1foot of tube, so in the little window that says the amount of your purchase you will need to change the 1 to like 6 or 8 which will give you 6feet if you chose 6 or 8feet if you chose 8 instead of 1 foot as you have it there. That is how you place the order on frozencpu.

It said that it was for 1 meter and the rad also comes with some (as an option) Remember that my case is small so 1 meter should be plenty for

Have you ever PC watercooled before? What about mistakes? I know i made many many mistakes the first time i tried PC watercooling. 1 meter = 3 feet, My first time WCing was in a Bitfenix Outlaw and i only did a CPU and i used 5ft of tubing which included my mistakes but maybe you mapped out you loop better than i did.....

Also i would contact the people at frozencpu for assurance on your components as they are very helpful and knowledgeable. This is the guy you need to contact joe@frozencpu.com He handles all the liquid cooling stuff.

I would also read the fine print when purchasing WCing PC components....at frozencpu tubing on the site is sold by the foot and it is listed, most of the times, in the product description, check it again.

One main fundamental in PC WCing....it is better to have and not need than to need and not have.

Thanks, I have only used all in ones but I think I know the general idea.

Are comp. fittings worth it for the price or should I get barbed fittings for half of the price?

If you like functionality and aesthetics, then compressions are the main choice. Barbs are just functional and the only advantage barbs has over compression is the fact that you can use the exact size tube for the barb or bigger tubing or smaller tubing, with compressions you must use the exact size to ensure no leaks.

Barbed it is!
