I'm looking for an SSD. I do not need the fastest speeds but decent random read/write speeds are good since I will use this for game storage.

Here is the list of the SSDs available to me. Prices and capacity don't matter as they are very close to each other.
  • Crucial MX100 512GB
  • PNY Optima 480GB
  • PNY XLR8 480GB (non-pro version)
  • Transcend SSD370 512GB
  • SanDisk Ultra II SSD 480GB
  • ADATA Premier SP610 512GB
  • ADATA XPG SX900 512GB
  • OCZ ARC 100 480GB
  • Samsung 840 EVO 500GB
  • Samsung 840 PRO 512GB

Here are 3 SSDs that are more expensive that those above but I could still get these if they are significantly better.
  • AMD Radeon R7 Series 480GB
  • Kingston SSDNow KC300 Series 480GB
  • SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD 480GB

1, you dont need one

2. the r7 is just a rebrand

3. the first group are almost identical so get the cheapest 500/512 gb one

I need one that's why I made the thread

Get the cheapest one from the first grouping, they all perform virtually the same.

Ok then. The second group doesn't seem to be much of an improvement in the random speed department, do they?

Also, which one seem to be the most reliable/lower failure rate?

840Pro should be the better drive, MX100 the cheaper drive.

get the Sandisk Extreme II if you can, should be cheaper and better performing than the 840 Pro.

else Id get the Ultra II or the Samsung EVO.

That is from my current A-data SSD. I did have an SX900 that I was going to put into my MacBook but quickly returned it since it was even slower than my HDD. May have been unlucky with these purchases, but I am never getting close to buying a A-data again.

Dude use your ssd for boot up and put windows on that I have 400 games and they are almost making up 4TB

Each new game is like around 50GB so if you"re going with a 412 Gb maybe like only like only like 80games like that
