Just got a 3258 and an ASRock Z97 anniversary. I know how to overclock already what I want to know is what voltage (approxamitely) do these chips take for 4.5Ghz?
I will use it as a ball park figure and starting point. I understand that your figure for your chip may not apply to mine I just need some ballparks as I have no idea what the voltage ranges on these are like.

You can leave the voltage at auto and set it at 4500Mhz, it will use 1.3v.....im playing around with my G3258 right now too :)

4.97 @ 1,42 is pretty good, what are your temps?

Sub 75C on an H105, this is just running Cinebench though. Haven't waded into the waters of XTU or AIDA yet.

This is my second build with one. Prefer it much more over the h100i, although I had a hell of a time getting into my 250D. Had to cut the side grill off and drill 2 1/2 holes to route the tubing inside the case :D It was a fun project.

Thats the fun of building :) ive modded every case ive had in some way. The only thing the H105 doesnt have is Corsair Link, but thats not needed. I think its the best AIO out there right now.

I hate Corsair link so much. I'd prefer to do my own WC loops for every build but I don't have a money tree, or time.

So far this chip is a terrible overclocker. at 1.3V 4.5Ghz couldnt even get into windows. I used the boards "auto OC to 4.2Ghz" feature and it crashed in a minute in P95.

I appear to have a very juice hungry chip.

Any suggestions?

Also is anybody familiar with the Z97 anniversary BIOS? I'm having trouble understanding where to enter everything as I am used to ASUS bios.

You bombed the chip lottery gg

I OC'd a G3258 to 4.5 at 1.3V on an H81 board and it ran perfectly, 24 hours if AIDA 64 and not one issue.

I was going to suggest BIOS update but ASRock hasn't released one for 6 months

What was the BSOD code?

Also what RAM are you running and is it in XMP or JDEC?

Not sure what nomenclature ASRock uses for the settings but if you could grab a couple screen shots we could probably collectively figure it out. F12 in the BIOS, save to a FAT32 formatted USB...at least that's how to get screens in most UEFI's.

There was no BSOD code windows just crashed and it reset. So I can take UEFI screenshots with F12 and save them to a USB drive? All I have to do is insert a USB drive and press F12 no setup required?

That's the case with every ASUS I've owned. Should pull up a menu where all you have to do is choose which drive you would like to save it on, some UEFI's allow saving straight to an installed HDD/SSD, others only FAT32 USB's. FAT32 USB is the safe bet.

Apparently ASRock operates similarly> http://starrguide.com/capture-screenshots-asrock-uefi-bios/
