Every Linux installation will crash

I am trying to install Linux on this PC:

 

Intel Pentium D805 @2,66Ghz with 4gb of some really slow DDR2 ram. LGA 775

 

I can install Windows VIsta and 7 from usb just fine. But I can't install Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora...) from USB. The installation just freezes.

Use Unetboot to make the Boot able USB for it then it should go just fine.

Use Unetboot to make the Boot able USB for it then it should go just fine.

 

I use this http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ and it works just fine on any other pc. I will give Unetboot a go.

Last time I had a similar problem, was the HDD that was dying. Try to install Linux in a different HDD/SSD.

Even though installing windows that way works? I don't have another drive to try this. And the old IDE drives I had are taken apart, so I can play with the magnets :D

I can't even choose the installation folder. In xbuntu for example, I choose install, then it loads and then when choosing the language it freezes.

Seems is not HDD problem. Try to install the setup/live of the Linux you want with unetbootin. If still gives the freeze, try with another USB pen.
