Hi all.

A school I work at has recently granted us $10k AUD to put towards a rendering machine. This computer will be used mainly for rendering projects in Autodesk Revit along with some potential video rendering in Adobe Premier/After Effects.

Seeing as most of the rendering for Revit is done on the CPU I was thinking maybe a consumer grade 8 core intel CPU. Happy to look at server grade stuff. This along with some good workstation grade GPU. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Lachlan

I would ask you to choose Xeon E5 series and Quadro graphics, 64 GB RAM, 850 Pro SSD or Intel 730 Series SSD, Decent cooling for CPU.

Good for you!

Edit:

Or get a Lenovo ThinkStation P900. Powerful enough to handle your needs.

Some room for keyboard, mouse, and drawing tablet.

Not sure on project storage requirements. Storage: M.2 SSD for system, swap, & programs, 1TB for scratch & temp, 2x4TB in RAID 1 for projects.

Quiet case & cooling.
