I'm by no means an audiophile so I came here to see if i can get some help. I mostly listen to music and play games.

So last weekend I bought the HyperX Cloud headset (it was 60$, why not) instead of the SteelSeries Siberia V2 Frost Blue. I plugged it into the rear i/o of the motherboard and was testing them out. I was really disappointed with how they sound, my headset that im using right now, a pair of Rosewill RHTS-8206 that sound more clearer and louder, even at 30% volume and with them falling apart, compared to the HyperX Cloud at 100% volume. I was also hearing a lot of static with the HyperX cloud them aswell and was thinking about returning them and getting a refund.

I've heard that they require more power and a sound card or amp would be needed in order to get the most out of them as my motherboards (an Asrock 970 extreme4 ) onboard sound isnt that great.

I was looking at some sound cards for a bit and wanted to know which one of these would work great for the HyperX Cloud if I keep them.

So what do you guys on the LTT forum reccomend I do? Buy a sound card for the HyperX Cloud and hope they sound great? Or return them and buy the Siberia v2 and hope those sound good with no sound card.

I'm really trying to like the HyperX Cloud but they just dont sound that great in this situation and are currently just boxed away in my closet. Thanks for reading.

That Rosewill is USB which bypasses your onboard, and since you're having problems with the analog HyperX, it's safe to say it is faulty. A cheap solution like the Syba DAC should work, or you could grab a Xonar DG if your budget's a little less.
