Hell, he could save even more and go for the 650W model or find an even cheaper 600W. The 970 sips power.

I'd honestly recommend the be quiet! Silent Base 800 for a gaming rig, it seems to have quite a bit better airflow from what I've seen, I'm ordering one today for my personal rig in my signature. Should bring my GPU temps down quite a bit (idles at 40C), CPU already idles at just about 20C while OC'd to 4.65GHZ.

Nope. The RM aren't total crap, but they aren't exactly great. Try to find a Capstone, SuperNova, XTR or something else with a Seasonic, Delta or SuperFlower platform.

i agree, corsair advertizes the PSU as high quality, but they use cheap chinese and taiwanese caps, while the ones stated above use 100% japanese caps

If you can get an R4 for $70 (which you can), then you should. Yes the R5 is pretty much perfect but gawd the R4 is good.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

$15 difference in my country (Australia). Not sure what the difference is for the OP.

Every time that side panel opens the wrong way I would just be like ... Damn! I should have gotten the R5. This is assuming you're using a windowed version, with the window facing you.

The offset top fan mounts and the removable optical drive bay are also game changing. Although since the OP is not watercooling this is less of a big deal.

I'd get the Phanteks Enthoo Pro instead of either though. The whole "Quite Case" thing always just screams low(er) airflow. Fans running idle at low speeds (<1000 RPM) are almost inaudible anyway...
