okay so guys just wanted to know if disabling hyper threading on a intel i7 4790k will increase single threaded performance as i know hyper threading is 1 core split into two which would seem like you only get half the performance per physical core? this should be better for gaming if i am correct.  :P

That is not how hyper-threading works, also there is no reason a 4790k will be holding you back in any games

Hyperthreading does not have a negative effect on your CPUs performance, disabling it will not give you any boost, hyperthreading is essentially just an extra virtual core for every physical core, all it does it helps line the workload up better so your CPU can process all the information being thrown at it more efficiently.

Your CPU should not be holding your gaming performance back at all.
