So I recently got Ubuntu running on a VM using VMware Player, but for some reason, the scroll wheel on my mouse isn't recognized.

Any help?

Ftr, my mouse is a Corsair M95 in hardware playback mode.

Also - my read/write speeds are terrible according to task manager on the host PC which is Win8.1 (whatever the latest update is). The HDD is a very old laptop HD which is several years old now though - is this the reason? In the VM itself it's very slow to start up and opening programs is also slow.

Mess around with the mouse settings in Ubuntu and make sure the system isnt trying to use your touchpad or anything like that. Also make sure you mouse is connected under removable devices section in VMware.

Auto-install didn't work and the I'm not familiar enough with terminal commands to follow their instructions. Do you know of simpler ones?
