get the reference card, load as a jet, but no problem when sli´ ing.

there is an reference one i found, with titan cooler, but it costs $360 tipping 370 where the gigabyte g1 is about the same, msi $350 , evga some 330 ish. so i feel like getting the reference is too overpriced right now. and i can still sli with an aftermarket/reference one, btw the blower type coolers right now are pretty ugly imo.

Quoting myself from another topic, regarding the differences between gigabyte g1 gaming and msi gaming 4g,

Okay, so the differences are:

MSI:

  • More slient
  • Shorter
  • Usually cheaper

G1:

  • Has -marginally- better OC
  • Lower temps
  • More display outputs
  • Backplate

I always suggest going for MSI, unless there is some huge discount. The 3 main reasons for this are:

  1. MUCH shorter card. The G1 has a limited selection of cases. While you may not care for it NOW, you might want to use it in a shorter case; say, using the 970 on another pc after an upgrade, or when testing any parts in your/your friends's pc.
  2. MUCH better for SLI. G1 produces more heat, and is able to transfer that more effectively. So what does this mean? More hot air is being throw at the lower VGA. It is also a long card, trapping the hot air in the middle of the 2. Again, you may not care for SLI now, but given the great scaling of the 970s, along with a good price/performance, and the fact that they consume so little power that most PSU can handle it, future SLIs are quite possible.
  3. Pricing. At least where I live. It's a big difference. And considering they perform almost the same... there's no point on the G1.

All of that being said, I still recommend neither of those. My suggestion is always the Msi 4gd5t OC, due to similar power than both and MUCH LOWER price. It also has a cleaner look, making it easier to fit in any build, rather than the shinning red of the 4G.

Is it now about the "air flow" or the overprice or the "ugly lookin´ thang". C´mon you don´t even know what you want.

Why don´t you just get the beautiful reference Palit GTX 970 covered in beautiful plastic, with a little plastic on the plastic,

Btw: its cheaper

air flow would be the biggest problem, however this is my first build so sorry to say aethesticly i would want it to look pleasing which the blower type 970's don't have. & how's the palit 970 vs the pny 970? &, but its not on newegg the palitt 970 reference.

Quoting myself from another topic, regarding the differences between gigabyte g1 gaming and msi gaming 4g,

where i live, in the us, the msi gaming 4g and msi 4gd5t is the same price because the 4gd5t has $10 shipping, both costing $350 so

in my case the price argument is invalid. however since my case's form factor is not small but possess not that great airflow, can i dual sli msi gaming 4g's in my case and still get away with it due to the silent until 60 celcius fans? & gigabyte costing $370.

Since pricing is the same, ofc you should get the 4g gaming.

"SLI" and "60ºC" are 2 terms that simply won't go along. Even if you had the G1 gaming that runs at 60ºC, when SLIing, temperatures just skyrocket, due to hot air being thrown at the lower GPU. If you had blower cooler, that wouldn't happen; but then, they aren't as strong, and wouldn't be able to cool as much.

Regarding silence, you can adjust that with a fan curve. Make it please you.

Is this the blower type 970? How is it after a month? Sound like a jet engine?

Yep. Blower model. its real loud, doesn't bother me though, went with the blower cause I don't want to dump 300-400watts of heat energy inside my case as non blower cards would have done. my CPU radiator would have been sucking in all that case heat and made my CPU 15C hotter and the rest of my system hotter (mobo, ram, everything).

More because of it's cooler is better than the others. And aesthetically it's nicer too.

Ok the card is cool, I understand, but with bad airflow, cool as boiling water with a second card that he wanted.

The first card is warming up the case, the second card is sucking the warm air and this circulates all the time in the case.

This causes all components to heat up.

sorry for the late reply, but if i put the card on the bottom pci -e slot, ( im getitng an m-atx so theres an decent amount of space in between, the gigabyte z97mx board) theres an opening in betweeen the case which would allow the fan to point toward there, wouldn't that mean i can get a aftermarket cooler for now? and if i do indeed to get another one to sli, i put the reference in front and then the aftermarket in back? would look like this but instead of the amd card, a aftermarket 970 such as msi 4g or gigabyte g1.
