FX 6300 - Questions

Go to solution Solved by Analog,

I just have a few questions:

1- Will it perform good when it comes to 3D rendering?

2- Will it perform good when it comes to video editing? (And I mean occasional light video editing)

3- Is it fast? (Do you, for example, have one and feel its fastness?)

4- Will it perform good with a R9 280X when it comes to gaming?

Thanks!

1 - No

2 - No

3 - Not at all, Good enough for basic usage and casual gaming

4 - Probably yes

Please don't buy anything on the FX platform. It is very old and there is no support for it any more. It's basically a dead socket, which is discontinued. Go Intel, even the cheapest i5 will outperform a heavily overclocked AMD FX 6300.

I'd go for the FX8350 if you wanna do rendering tbh.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Ok then, I think I should save a bit more and go for a i5 4690k

Thanks

Yes, you will be much happier with that processor and you will save on electricity bills as well! :)

1. Its alright, certainly isn't the best thing on the market. Then again, the best processor on the market still isn't fast enough, as there always is room for improvement. A FX-8320 will be better though(staying within the socket).

2. Basically the same answer as #1.

3. It doesn't deliver a laggy experience for web browsing and what not, but...(lead in to #4)

4. It should be alright, but you will probably have to overclock to eliminate any bottleneck. Games can sometimes be really demanding on the CPU, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Also this has basically the same answer as #1 and 2.

It's either the cheapest option (FX 6300) or a top of the line (i5 4690k or even i7 4790k)

What I'm trying to say is that if the FX 6300 isn't good enough, I rather save a bit more

Thanks anyway

If you can stretch your wallet, i7 is the best option ofc.

Thanks for answering, and I think I've made my mind (I'll save a bit more and get the i5 4690k)

Once again, thanks

Yep no problem. I agree the 4690 would be a better CPU, but thats mostly because its newer(AM3+ is a bit outdated) and has all of the benefits of the newer technologies.
