hardware dep - windows 8.1

so i've got a problem

 

i turned off dep @ windows so i could use a program yet under windows 8.1 it doesnt work and it works under windows 7

 

 

how can i "let windows 8.1 know" that the hardware dep is turned off? because as it seems windows 8 cannot read that its disabled in bios

First off you really don't want to disable DEP. It's one of the most common and effective ways to stop most exploits out there. You're opening yourself up to attacks.

Second, in windows the default setting is that DEP is enabled for System Services and Files only, so even if DEP is on, it will not affect your application.

 

What application are you trying to run? Most likely it's just a dependency compatibility thing that the manufacturer of the app should have been able to fix by now.
