Never really did GPU overclock since I used 2 HD6970 reference cards which run pretty hot already.
Now I have a 970 I thought I might have a go at getting a bit more out of it, not that a neeeed to its already waaaay better that my previous cards.
So I had a look at Luke's overclocking doc for what he did and just set my card to what he had. After doing that was getting artifacts and all sorts. I reduced the GPU clock to 1400, the memory to 7400 and the GPU max voltage to 1200mv.
Now it runs with no artifacts, around 70C and I got an 8fps avg increase on Tomb raider which I think is pretty good.

Anything I should be looking out for and have I done everything correctly?
Also I used the Asus GPU tweak software same as Luke.
