I thought there was no reference 970? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Linus said there actually isn't anybody that makes a reference one, only a "design" for one.

I see what it was. There was no reference card for the 970 until they made a 4gb variant. I think. I may be totally wrong.

 

Edit: Looks like I am REALLY wrong. For some reason I thought that they were only making 2 gb cards for a while. Must have been some other card.
