I am currently revising for my maths test tmrw (just found out today :S)

 

According to the worked solutions:

 

q1) 8x^-3 = (8x)^3

      then it gets to

      512 / 8 = x^6

 

Which rules were used??????

 

Doesn't matter if the question isn't answered as long as i understand.

8 * x ^ -3 = 8 * 1 / (x ^ 3)

(8x)^3 = 512 * x^3

 

8 * 1 / (x ^ 3) = 512 * x^3

It's easy from now on.

Multiply by x^3 so you get rid of the fraction

8 = 512 * x ^ 6 

x^ 6 = 512/8 = 64

x = 2

 

Man I wish I had to do exercises like these :l
