Hi

I want to build a computer that can run CFD simulations and allow me to play game. Problem is, there are these mobo's like ASUS Z77 "WS" which is capable of using ECC memories but i7 CPU's are not supporting ECC memories. Now my plan was to build it with i7 3770k with 32 GB ram and GTX TITAN so that i can simulations in parallel in gpgpu and play some games. So how will my double-pecision calculations be affected with or without ECC memories.

Basically I don't want to pay Dell or HP a lot of money and I cannot find intel E3-1270 CPU sold seperately here in Istanbul.

Thank you.

You can still get that setup, but instead of i7, you can buy a xeon on 1155 that supports ECC memory, there are xeons  equal to i7s.

Codename: HighFlyer, specs:  CPU: i5 2500k cooled by a H70ish(2 rad)   Mobo: MSI MPower Z77   GPUs: Gigabyte GTX 660 OC 1150 MHZ core, 3150 memory both   RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16G @1600mhz   SSD: ADATA Premier Pro sx900 / HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB/Samsung 1TB   Power supply: Corsair RM650 80+ Gold   Case Corsair Carbide 500R   5.4 ghz achieved on the good old 2500k, may it rest in peace. Current daily OC is 4.8 @1.41 v
