Looking for feedback on build

I'm looking for feedback on this rig. Building for my sister so no real overclocking for now but maybe in the future if required. She will be using it for gaming (Dragon Age 3, Assassin Creed) being able to play very high 1080p 50-60 fps would be nice (only one monitor). Looking for something that will age well (willing to upgrade (around $200) graphic card in 2-3 year and maybe an SSD)  

 

Budget is around $800 CAD ($700 US) 

 

CPU: AMD FX-6300 - $129.99 ( NCIX.CA )

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 - $95 ( NCIX.CA )

Ram: 8 GB (2 X 4 gb) 1600hz - $90 ( NCIX.CA )

PSU: 750W - $100 ( NCIX.CA )

Case: Does not matter - $50

Hard Drive: WD 1 TB Blue - $65 ( NCIX.CA )

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 OC - $210 ( NCIX.CA )   

OS: Windows 8.1 - $120

 

I have not yet bought my sister her xmas gift is it worth upgrading to a XFX R9 290 DD that is on sale currently for $300? Mind you I already $60 over budget.

Is an i5 really worth the extra money? which one would you recommend?
