Well for the past two weeks I've noticed that my PC is not getting the performance it should be out of my new Gigabyte GTX 970, and i can't find why, nor can anyone tell me. I've asked Intel, which told me to go to Gigabyte, and Gigabyte told me to go to MSI, and they are not much help at all. My computer has been performing about half of what it should be performing, and i can prove that through benchmarks through 3d mark, and numerous games.

Games I've bench marked:
Far Cry4 30-45fps (hits 50 rarely, and never goes to 60) Reference video for the benchmark:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqiOX-4fjdw
Arma III 15-high 20's  (reference video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-MciAJaM44)
3d Benchmark (skydiver default) my score was: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/4839575 22029

It seems i'm not getting near the frames i should, and Gigabyte agrees,  but they cannot supply an answer,or really any other ideas, but say it was other hardware.

Things i've tried: Intel diagnostics test-Pass multiple times
memtest- ran for 24 hours, and no errors!
GPUZ- gpu runs at 100% while CPU stands at 50%

3dmark-test scores on any test not up to par with systems of the same caliber

Reformatted, and installed driver carefully
Swtiched PCI slot
monitor GPU temp- Soild 60 degree under full load
Monitored CPU temps- 55-65 full load. 27-40 idle

None of these led me to answers, nor worked, so at this point, it's a mystery problem. Can someone please help! I don't know what's going on, and i have two weeks to turn in my video card to exchange it for a new one, so please help me, i seriously need some :/

Also my computer has experienced lockups, and even after i installed my new GPU! The lockups force me to restart, and scares me for my computers Health. These tend to happen if i leave my PC on for a period of time, and then come back to it. One time when this happened it displayed the debug code: 03 on my motherboard during the lock up.

Please help me :/

you are the third person to say a GTX 970 is performing under average with a i5 3670k, could be a problem with the cpu. no clue

I skimmed through it, the issues (like PC locking up) started happening after you got the graphics card right? You said you can exchange it, why not try that?

Same problems persisted; i bought a new GPU to try to get away from the problems

Update your bios, I´ve seen several updates for your mainboard, including pcie compatiblity and a new cpu microcode. You only need the newest.

Btw check with Msi Afterburner, while running games, if your graphicscard is using a higher clock than in windows. Also check temperatures.

Check if your bios has pcie 3.0 enabled. Don´t  use auto detection.

If this didn´t help, reinstall windows.

Good luck!
